January 31, 1964 - Jack Kmetz hits a jumper right before the buzzer sounds to lift Jim Thorpe to a thrilling 77-76 Black Diamond League victory over Summit Hill. Kmetz finishes with a game-high 30 points for the Olympians, who race to a 21-point advantage in the first quarter only to see the Hillers rally to take a seven-point lead in the last frame. Thorpe, coached by Tony Romano, outscores its opponent 12-4 down the stretch to pull out the win. Ronnie Hydro contributes 16 points to the Olympian cause, while Ronnie Miller adds 12. Thorpe also receives 10 points from Fred Breisswein.
