Man, 31, sentenced for attempting to entice minor

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that on Jan. 19 Matthew Robinson, 31, formerly of East Stroudsburg, was sentenced to 96 months in prison by U.S. District Court Judge Robert D. Mariani for attempting to entice a minor online.

According to U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam, Robinson pleaded guilty to attempting to entice an individual under the age of 18 to engage in sexual intercourse, between July 16, 2022 and Aug. 2, 2022. During that time period, Robinson exchanged sexually explicit conversations and photographs with a person that he believed to be 13 years of age.

Robinson has been in custody since his arrest on Aug. 2, 2022.

The case was investigated by agents from Homeland Security Investigations. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Phillip J. Caraballo.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide program of the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
