- Palmerton’s Thomas Pasqueriello advanced to the finals at the Colonial League Tournament Jan. 14, falling to Wilson’s Western Slingland, 14-0 ... Freshman Evan Temarantz of Tamaqua advanced to the finals of the Schuylkill League Tournament as the fourth seed on Jan. 13.

- Lehighton’s Aidan Gruber has enjoyed another stellar season as a senior. Gruber won his second straight Schuylkill League title Jan. 13, achieving his 100th career win with a pin in the final. He advanced to the semifinals at the Coal Cracker Tournament a week later, and placed fourth ... Northwestern’s Braydon Uricchio placed third at the Colonial League Tournament.

- Stephen Korte of Jim Thorpe captured his first Schuylkill League title two weeks ago, knocking off No. 1 seed Kaden Casey of North Schuylkill in the finals after earning a major decision over Tamaqua’s Aiden Schlier in the semis. Korte placed sixth at last week’s Coal Cracker Tournament ... Schlier finished the league tournament strong, getting a pair of pins after his loss, including a fall against Lehighton’s Anthony Amari in his consolation semis before pinning Tri-Valley’s Jaxson Bruso to place third ... Amari placed sixth at the league tournament ... Catasauqua’s Mikhail Hartranft, a state qualifier last season, topped Northern Lehigh’s Cody Mazzocca 6-2 to earn third at the Colonial League Tournament.

- Gabe Erbe advanced to the finals at the Schuylkill League Tournament and battled Mahanoy’s Ryan Fisher in the finals, falling 3-2. The senior pinned Lehighton’s Jacob Hall in the semifinals. Erbe was 3-2 at the Coal Cracker ... Jim Thorpe’s Christopher Jacobacci reached the semis at the league tournament before falling to Fisher. The junior made it to the third-place match, where he topped Hall 6-5 ... Palmerton’s Josh Merkel placed fourth at the Colonial League Tournamentl On Jan. 17, Merkel pinned Catasauqua’s Mikhail Hartranft in 5:27. Hartranft was a state qualifier last season. Merkel went 2-2 at the Coal Cracker.

- Freshman Trent Croll of Northwestern earned the title at the Colonial League Tournament with an impressive 16-12 win over Wilson’s David M’Balla, and followed that with a 15-13 win over M’Balla three days later. Croll went 3-2 at the Coal Cracker ... Michael Cobb of Panther Valley placed fifth at the Schuylkill League Tournament, pinning Tamaqua’s Brody Boyce in 3:32 in their fifth-place match ... Boyce pinned Jim Thorpe’s Owen Acker in 3:56 in the consolation round ... Acker pinned Lehighton’s Garrett Heiland in 2:12 in the consolation bracket.

- Lehighton’s Evan Wentz reached the final of the Schuylkill League Tournament, falling to North Schuylkill’s 10-3. Wentz went 3-2 at the Coal Cracker.

- Palmerton’s Derek King reached the finals of the Colonial League Tournament, dropping a 9-2 decision to Southern Lehigh’s Brock Frable 9-2. King went 4-2 at the Coal Cracker ... Jim Thorpe’s Max Pfeifer pinned Lehighton’s Carter Hontz in 2:55 to reach the semifinals at the Schuylkill League Tournament. Pfeifer posted a 3-1 win over Tamaqua’s Chase Zeigenfuss in the fifth-place match.

- Palmerton’s Dillon Lombardi reached the finals at the Colonial League Tournament, falling to Southern Lehigh’s Sean Steckert. Lombardi bounced back from an opening round loss at the Coal Cracker to win five straight matches and reach the second day. His tournament came to an end against Steckert, who posted an 8-3 decision victory ... Freshman sensation Rory Dixon of Panther Valley has eclipsed the 20-win mark and advanced to the finals of the Schuylkill League Tournament, falling to Pottville’s Parrish McFarland, the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler. McFarland was a regional fifth-place finisher last year. Dixon was 2-2 at the Coal Cracker ... Tamaqua’s Stephen Kieffer pinned Lehighton’s Zoltan Bedocs in the consolation round at the league tournament.

- Lehighton’s Jacob Ferguson, a regional qualifier last season, advanced to the finals at the Schuylkill League Tournament before falling to Pottsville’s Nick Kunstek, who is committed to Ohio State. Ferguson went 4-2 at the Coal Cracker ... Palmerton’s Dillon Anthony pinned Bangor’s Landen Smith in 4:09 to place third at the Colonial League Tournament ... Jim Thorpe’s Cael Heaney placed fourth at the Schuylkill League Tournament, and recorded two pins.

- Northwestern’s Luke Fugazzotto has put together an impressive encore performance after a stellar freshman campaign the ended with a trip to Hershey and Times News Wrestler of the Year honors. The sophomore powered to a Colonial League title and was third at the recent Coal Cracker Tournament ... Jim Thorpe’s Nikolas Schwartz battled North Schuylkill’s Ricky Halford in the third-place match at the Schuylkill League Tournament before falling 5-3. Schwartz topped Tamaqua’s Jacob Hehn 4-2 to reach the third-place bout, scoring a reversal with 0:11 remaining in the match ... Hehn pinned Tri-Valley’s Hunter Updegrave in just 0:23 to place fifth at the league tournament.

- Northern Lehigh’s Grady Newhard posted a 3-2 decision over Wilson’s Ian Feckete to place third at the Colonial League Tournament. Lehighton’s Asher Traylor placed sixth at the Schuylkill League Tournament. Traylor also pinned Panther Valley’s Ivan Terry in 0:45 in the consolation round ... Pleasant Valley’s Evan Gillespie had three pins during the Gettysburg Duals on Jan. 13.

- Lehighton’s Wyatt Sherer advanced to the finals of the Schuylkill League Tournament as the No. 4 seed, falling to Schuylkill Haven’s Aiden Myers, 7-3. Sherer was 3-2 at the Coal Cracker ... Northern Lehigh’s Jack Tosh placed third at the Colonial League Tournament, topping Northwestern’s Noah Schlofer 2-1 to earn bronze ... Jim Thorpe’s Aiden Sterling won his quarterfinal round match at the league tournament before an injury stopped his next bout against Sherer. Sterling was forced to forfeit his remaining matches and finished sixth.

- Lehighton’s Reese Balk powered to his second straight Schuylkill League title, recording a pair of pins and posted a 6-4 decision in the semifinals. Balk went 4-3 at the Coal Cracker, placing eighth ... Northern Lehigh’s Sam Frame pinned Catasauqua’s Jacob Ramos in 1:09 to capture the Colonial League title. Frame had a pin and a decision to reach the finals ... Panther Valley’s Brian Welser had a pair of pins and a major decision to claim third at the league tournament. Welser went 2-2 at the Coal Cracker ... Northwestern’s Jackson Huber was fourth at the Colonial League Tournament.

GIRLS

• Lehighton

- Lillian Klotz (112) earned a pin and Addison Chavanic (170) won by decision in Lehighton’s win against Tamaqua on Jan. 17. Chavanic pinned Jocelyn Davis of Wilson in 0:30 to place third at 192 pounds at the girls Coal Cracker Tournament. It was Chavanic’s fifth pin of the tournament after falling in her first round match. Maggie Pagotto went 4-2 and had four pins at the Coal Cracker. Klotz and Pagotto were both runners up at the Bedlam for the Belt Tournament last month, while Cassidy Litts and Chavanic each placed third.

• Palmerton

- Gretchen Schaible placed fifth at the girls Coal Cracker Tournament. She went 5-2 at the event, posting a 7-2 win over regional qualifier Isabelle Allen of Boiling Springs in the consolation round and finishing her run with a 7-4 win over Miah Molinaro of Hazleton. Schaible was fourth at Souderton’s Big Red Girls Invitational on Jan. 13. Schaible had four pins at the tournament.

• Panther Valley

- Unbeaten Brenda Banks – a regional and state champion as a freshman – was incredibly impressive in winning the 235-pound title at the Coal Cracker Tournament, recording two pins and a major decision. The sophomore, who was fourth at the US Marine Corps Junior National Wrestling Championships for Team PA last year, pinned Northeast Regional champ Jaidyn Mikulak (Honesdale), who was fourth at states last year, in 3:09 in the finals. Banks also captured a title at the Elizabethtown Girls BAGUBA Brawl and PA National Guard Invite in December, and the Mattness at the MACC on Jan. 15. Alisa Williams also impressed at the Coal Cracker with a fifth-place finish at 170 pounds, recording three pins and a decision at the event. At the Matness at the MACC, Williams and Anelia Bennick (155) both reached the finals and placed second, while Kyla McQuillen (148) was third and Haylee Fessler (190) was 10th.

• Tamaqua

- Against Schuylkill Valley on Jan. 9, Rylin Arroyo pinned Delacruz Angeline in 3:46 at 112 pounds. Amanda Chen placed fourth at 112 pounds at the Bedlam for the Belt Tournament on Dec. 28, and Alexis Jones was sixth at 170 pounds. Arroyo was sixth at 106 pounds at the Blue Raider Tournament on Dec. 16, while Addison Trunk was fourth at 106. Trunk was also fourth at the PA National Guard Invitational at 106 pounds on Dec. 9.
