Palmerton basketball players call for coach firing

Palmerton Area High School’s boys’ varsity basketball coach came under fire during Tuesday night’s school board meeting for what several players termed repeated mental abuse.

Multiple players addressed board members and requested the termination of Ken Termini.

Termini became the sixth Palmerton coach in the school’s history to achieve 100 wins on Jan. 11, but players voiced their concerns over his treatment of them including following a 56-54 home loss to Catasauqua on Saturday.

Players told the board they hoped to have middle school boys’ coach Brian Stevko take over coaching duties for the remainder of the season.

Palmerton’s board took no official action Tuesday night, but directors did confirm they would discuss the issue in an executive session.
