State police at Frackville

State police at Frackville reported on the following crashes:

• Jeloni Corpening-Ogoe, 33, and Ebony Corpening-Ogoe, 38, both of Newark, New Jersey, were injured in a one-vehicle crash at 5:53 p.m. Jan. 9 on Interstate 81 in Ryan Township.

They were transported by personnel from the Ryan Township Emergency and Rescue Squad to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-East, Pottsville.

Police said Jeloni Corpening-Ogoe was driving a 2008 Kia Sportage southbound on the interstate when it began to hydroplane due to heavy rain. She lost control of the vehicle, which she ultimately swerved to the left, causing the car to spin clockwise and overturn onto its passenger side before catching fire.

• Justin Anziani, 23, of Hazleton, was cited for accidents involving damage to unattended vehicle or property after a crash at 2:55 p.m. Jan. 6 on Crest Street in Rush Township. He was uninjured.

Police said he was driving a 2011 Ford Explorer when he lost control of the vehicle while making a turn. The vehicle traveled off the roadway and hit a road sign.

Police said Anziani fled the scene but was identified but the vehicle was identified by a witness and it was located a short distance from where the incident took place.

• Victor G. Mearini Jr., 46, of Lost Creek, was cited for after a one-vehicle crash at 6:10 a.m. Jan. 14 on East Oak Street in West Mahanoy Township. He was uninjured.

Police said he was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze westbound and was negotiating a curve in the road when he lost control of the vehicle. It slid into the eastbound lane and came to rest facing east. The car sustained damaged to its passenger’s side and was towed from the scene.
