Carbon County ranks 31st among 67 counties of the state in the rate of death due to cancer, a study by the State Department of Health shows.

The report shows during the five-year period 1965-69, deaths from cancer in the county averaged 97 per year for a mortality rate during the period of 175.7 per a population of 100,000.

As a point of comparison, during a previous 10-year period from 1953-62, the number of deaths from cancer in the county averaged 103 a year, with the cancer death rate being 186.6. During that period, the county then ranked eighth among 67 counties insofar as its death rate from cancer was concerned.
