Palmerton gained wins in both girls basketball and wrestling action on Monday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Panther Valley-Pine Grove

Panther Valley hit 12 three-pointers during a 72-42 Schuylkill League victory over Pine Grove.

The Panthers had seven different players connect from behind the arc to win their third straight game.

Chase Weaver finished with a game-high 18 points for PV, which led by 20 at halftime. Stephen Hood added 11.

The Panthers improved to 10-5 overall and 5-4 in the league, while the Cardinals dropped to 2-14 and 1-8.

Pleasant Valley-ES North

Zach Prator poured in a game-high 24 points to help Pleasant Valley earn a 79-65 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over East Stroudsburg North.

Dakoda Lucas finished with 17 points, including five three-pointers, for the Bears, who hit 15 free throws in the fourth quarter to secure the win. PV, which ended a three-game losing streak, also received 16 points from Joe Greene.

The win lifted the Bears to 5-11 overall and 2-10 in the league, while North slipped to 9-6 and 5-6.

Wilson pulled away from Northern Lehigh for an eventual 66-48 Colonial League victory.

Brady Westbrooks and Isaiah Singleton both scored 16 points for the Warriors.

Nolehi’s Connor Simms posted a game-high 22 points - his seventh 20-point game of the season - while teammate Kellen Bauer contributed 18.

The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 2-15 overall and 0-12 in the league. Wilson is now 8-7 and 7-5.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Wilson-Northern Lehigh

Northern Lehigh’s Aubrey Pollard scored a season-high 30 points to power Northern Lehigh to a 72-36 Colonial League victory over Wilson.

The win clinched a district playoff berth for the Bulldogs.

Pollard netted nine of her points during the second quarter as Nolehi used a 26-8 frame to take control of the game.

Katelyn Barthold contributed 23 points, while Dekota Barthold added 11.

The Bulldogs, who won their eight straight, upped their mark to 11-6 overall and 8-4 in the league, while Wilson fell to 4-12 and 2-11.

Mount Carmel-Palmerton

Palmerton registered its seventh straight win, cruising to a 53-33 non-league decision over Mount Carmel.

Seven different players scored for the Blue Bombers during a 17-point third quarter that extended a narrow three-point lead to 15.

Hannah Barry scored a game-high 17 points for Palmerton, while Ella Baumgardt and Sydney Frantz both finished with eight.

Palmerton is now 15-1, while Mount Carmel stands at 7-9.

Kylie Conway’s 32-point performance was too much for Panther Valley, as Blue Mountain pulled away for a 60-45 Schuylkill League victory.

The winners, now 14-4 overall and 9-1 in the league, also received eight points from Kiersten Faust.

Maddison Maynard paced the Panthers with a team-high 15 points, while Morgan Orsulak collected 12.

The loss dropped PV to 12-5 and 7-3.

Pottsville kept Jim Thorpe off the scoreboard in the first quarter en route to a 58-17 Schuylkill League victory.

The Olympians were topped by Julianna Bowen’s eight points.

The Tide, who ended a 10-game losing skid, improved to 3-14 overall and 2-8 in the league, while Thorpe dropped to 0-15 and 0-10.

BOYS WRESTLING

Palmerton-Northwestern

Josh Merkel, Jaggar Serfass, Derek King and Dillon Anthony all registered pins to help Palmerton gain a 41-33 Colonial League victory over Northwestern.

The Blue Bombers, now 7-7, also received a technical fall from Thomas Pasqueriello.

For the Tigers, Braydon Uricchio and Noah Griffith both had falls. Luke Fugazzotto added a tech fall, and Trent Croll collected a major decision.

Northwestern dropped to 3-9.

Megan Goodman paced the winners with eight points.

The Wreckers received six points from both Katie Knock and Mya Binder.

Weatherly-Blue Mountain

Blue Mountain defeated Weatherly, 41-13.

The Wreckers’ Katie Knock led all scorers with 11 points.

Mary Whalen paced the Eagles with seven points.

7TH GRADE

Blue Mountain-Tamaqua

Blue Mountain recorded a 23-5 victory over Tamaqua.

Gormely and Trigone had two points apiece for the Raiders.

JR. HIGH BOYS BASKETBALL

8TH GRADE

Panther Valley

Panther Valley won four of five recent games.

In a 44-30 victory over Tamaqua, Tyler Hall led the Panthers with 12 points, while Cy Maynard and Chase McArdle added nine points apiece.

Pottsville downed PV, 34-27. Maynard and Hall both had nine points to pace the Panthers.

The Panthers topped Blue Mountain, 38-31, behind 15 points from Hall and 14 from McArdle.

McArdle’s 18 points led Panther Valley to a 39-35 win over Pine Grove. Maynard hit three triples and finished with 13 points.

Carson Jones had a big three-pointer and three foul shots in the fourth quarter to help the Panthers hold off Schuylkill Haven, 35-31. McArdle led all scorers with 17 points.

Panther Valley is now 7-2 on the season.

7TH GRADE

Panther Valley

Panther Valley picked up three recent wins as it improved its record to 6-3 on the season.

In a 35-6 victory over Tamaqua, Carson Jones and Corrigan Crampsie both netted 10 points to lead the Panthers.

Panther Valley topped Pottsville, 24-18, as Isa Gjoca, Corrigan Crampsie, and Carson Jones all scored five points.

Blue Mountain edged the Panthers, 31-27. Corrigan Crampsie torched the nets for 20 of PV’s team’s 27 points.

The Panthers rolled to a 40-18 victory over Pine Grove. Carson Jones topped PV with 12 points, while Michael Demyanovich added nine.

Schuylkill Haven posted a 36-26 victory over Panther Valley. Corrigan Crampsie had 11 points for the Panthers.

Weatherly-North Schuylkill

North Schuylkill defeated Weatherly, 42-30.

Eddie Feiling had 10 points for the Wreckers, while Jaxon McKeegan added eight.
