Bowmanstown will build tank at treatment plant

Bowmanstown has received nearly $320,000 to build and install a new 16,000-gallon concrete chlorine contact tank at the borough’s wastewater treatment plant.

Borough council announced at last week’s workshop that the borough received $319,812 from the PA Small Water and Sewer Program for the chlorine contact tank.

That was part of state grants that totaled more than $6 million that were awarded in December to projects to improve sewer and water systems in Carbon and Schuylkill counties.

In other business, council:

• Approved a quote from Matt Lang in the amount of $200 to fully clean all the gutters on the building.

• Decided to put off having Lang trim the tree out back down to the lowest Y’s in the structure of the tree at a cost of $1,300 until the spring.

• Accepted the 2023 exoneration list as submitted by the tax collector.
