The Carbon County Commissioners acted on or discussed the following items during their weekly meeting on Thursday:
• Authorized the necessary advertisements relative to reopening the 2024 budget.
• Adopted a resolution and certification of county match funds for the 2024 Agricultural Conservation Easement Purchase Program. The total is $251,976 and the resolution will be submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.
• Appointed Commissioners’ Chairman Michael J. Sofranko to serve as the commissioner representative on the MH/DS Advisory Board. His term expires March 31, 2027.
• Approved the sixth extension to the consulting agreement with Kellie Noble of Bethlehem to provide fiscal services to Children and Youth Services. The action extends the agreement to June 30, 2024.
Personnel
• Resignations: Sarah E. Brooks of Lehighton, administrative assistant/repository specialist, tax claim bureau, effective Jan. 18; and Gurvinder Singh of Hazle Township, county caseworker I, Children and Youth, effective Jan. 19.
• Prison board appointment: Raegan L. Nemeth of Palmerton, corrections officer, effective Jan. 22.
• Court employment separation: Lorene E. Russell of Lehighton, part-time sentencing guideline technician, adult probation, effective Jan. 15.
• Court resignation: Coral C. Steigerwalt of Jim Thorpe, district justice secretary I, Magisterial District Judge Lansford, effective Jan. 24.
