Tamaqua teacher receives PPL grant

Jacob Atherly, a chemistry teacher at Tamaqua Area High School, is one of four Pennsylvania teachers awarded a grant by the PPL Foundation.

The grants are awarded to teachers in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

Atherly will receive $1,500 for classroom supplies from the foundation.

Brett Wandler, a technology education teacher at William Allen High School in Allentown, was selected as the outstanding classroom teacher for 2023, receiving an award of $2,500.

The other teachers each received an award for $1,500 - Olivia Grenter, a seventh-grade science teacher at Manheim Township Middle School, Tara Miller, STEM teacher for second-fifth grades and gifted education teacher kindergarten through third grade at Kelly Elementary/Linntown Intermediate in Lewisburg.
