As temperatures dipped into the teens and single digits this week, two Carbon County office buildings’ heating systems failed, forcing employees to work bundled up.
On Monday, Children and Youth employees arrived at their building in Lehighton to find that the temperature inside was 49 degrees.
Commissioner Rocky Ahner said that as of Wednesday, a technician was still working to determine why the boiler wasn’t working.
Because of this, Children and Youth staff were working remotely Thursday morning as the technician looks to repair the heat.
While this problem was going on, courthouse employees came in on Wednesday to no heat in the historic building.
Employees posted on Facebook that they needed to wear coats and gloves, but were told that operations would continue as normal.
Ahner said Wednesday afternoon that the heat at the courthouse has been restored but what caused the problem was not determined.
