State police at Schuylkill Haven - crashes

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks reported on several crashes:

• Tessa A. Remaley, 29, of Pottsville, was cited for “following too closely” after a two-vehicle mishap at 1:03 p.m. Dec. 26 on West Bacon Street in Palo Alto.

Police said she was driving a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan westbound that struck a 2023 Freightliner that was stationary on the roadway with its hazard lamps and secondary amber light activated.

Remaley was uninjured.

The Volkswagen was towed from the scene while the Freightliner sustained functional damage to its rear-end and was able to be driven from the scene.

• Shannon M. McHugh, 21, of Jim Thorpe, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 4 p.m. Jan. 8 on Route 61 in Port Clinton.

Police said she was driving a 2020 Hyundai Elantra northbound when she lost control of the vehicle because of being fatigued and falling asleep. The car left the highway, struck an embankment and continued north, coming to rest partially obstructing the right lane of travel.

The car sustained disabling damages, police said.

McHugh was cited for the incident.

• Aimee E. DeBaufre, 33, of Lansford, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a one-vehicle crash at 4:06 a.m. Jan. 9 in Port Carbon. She was uninjured.

Police said she was driving a 2008 Honda Civic eastbound on Grand Street when it struck a sheet of “black ice,” causing her to lost control of the car. It traveled off the roadway and struck a retaining wall at the borough hall. The car was towed from the scene.
