Over the last decade, Carbon County has looked at all aspects of life during the annual human services breakfast.
This year, it will look at homelessness and ways to help those in need.
On Thursday, Commissioner Wayne Nothstein, who is on the breakfast organizing committee, announced that this year’s breakfast, to be held on April 19, that this year’s topic is “Homeless not helpless, Finding your way home.”
Nothstein said that speakers are being lined up to speak about a variety of topics regarding homelessness.
One confirmed speaker is county solicitor Robert Frycklund, who will speak on the legal aspects of what can and cannot be done to help the people in this situation as well as the public.
Sponsorships for the breakfast are now being accepted through the Carbon Collaborative website at https://cccfoundpa.org/collaborative-board.
In addition, Nothstein said that the collaborative will give out a $1,000 scholarship at the breakfast to a student who will be going to school for a human services related degree.
Information on this scholarship will also be available on agency’s website or by emailing the collaborative.
“I think we’ll have a pretty robust discussion about homelessness,” Nothstein said.
The breakfast is organized by the Carbon Collaborative and further details will be announced shortly.
