Former official pleads guilty Traffic charge stems from video Lukasevich posted on Facebook

Former Carbon County Commissioner Christopher L. Lukasevich has pleaded guilty to one of five summary traffic offenses that he was facing from a motorcycle ride on Oct. 22.

Jim Thorpe Det. Lee Marzen cited Lukasevich after he posted a video of the ride to his social media account.

The guilty plea was entered just prior to a scheduled hearing before Senior Judge Jacqueline Taschner of Northampton County.

The hearings were scheduled in the office of District Judge Eric Schrantz in Jim Thorpe, with Judge Taschner presiding in place of Schrantz because Lukasevich is a former county official.

Lukasevich pleaded guilty to a charge of obedience to traffic control devices and agreed to pay fine and costs totaling $225.25.

Judge Taschner declared him not guilty of three counts of duties at a stop sign and one count of failure to yield the right of way to pedestrians.

The plea agreement was reached just prior to the start of the scheduled hearing.

Lukasevich was apologetic regarding the charges and stressed the importance of leading by example.

Attorney Collins pointed out that Lukasevich, in addition to serving as a county commissioner, served his country in the U.S. military for 34 years.
