The Tamaqua Area School District Board of Education on Tuesday night named Wanda Zuber to fill a vacancy on the board. She will succeed Anna Mae Surotchak, who resigned last month.

Zuber is the daughter of Wendell and Beverly Heisler and graduated in 1982 from Tamaqua High. She and her husband are the parents of three children, Matthew, an 11th grader in the district, Thaddeus, 6, and Jamie, 4.

The new director, who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, formerly worked on the staffs of U.S. Rep. Don Ritter and state Rep. David Argall, and had been employed by her father’s business, Hetran Inc., Orwigsburg.
