Fayash re-elected chairman of Schuylkill board

Supervisor Charles Fayash was re-elected chairman of the Schuylkill Township board of supervisors at their annual reorganization meeting Monday night.

Supervisor Gary Fethers was elected vice chairman of the board.

The supervisors appointed Ann Miller as township secretary at $19 per hour, 30 hours per week, not to exceed 128 hours per month.

Dana Brubaker was appointed township treasurer at a salary of $6,919 per year, with a $600,000 bond on her work.

Mark Buccieri was reappointed township roadmaster at a salary of $25 per hour, plus dental insurance. Buccieri will be assisted by Robert Wallace, who will be paid $17.50 per hour, with a maximum of 28 hours per week for maintenance and plowing, unless more time is needed for plowing, at the discretion of the supervisors.

Thomas Slane Sr. was appointed Emergency Management coordinator, and Feathers was appointed deputy Emergency Management coordinator.

Chris Reidlinger of Orwigsburg was appointed township solicitor at a rate of $125 per hour on a 2-1 vote, with Fayash voting no, because “I don’t know him,” he said.

The vote was the same not to reappoint the Slusser Law Firm as solicitor at $130 per hour.

Attorney Donald Karpowich was reappointed solicitor to the township zoning hearing board for $125 per hour.

Light-Heigel & Associates Inc. was appointed zoning officer to issue zoning permits and handle zoning issues at a rate of $78 per hour.

Comprehensive Inspection Agency was appointed as Uniform Construction Code enforcement officer for building inspections and permits.

Alfred Benesch and Co. was appointed township engineer. Paul Delpais was appointed tax collector, and Mary Ann Delpais was appointed deputy tax collector.

William Brior was appointed sewage enforcement officer, and Robert Fugate as alternate sewage enforcement officer.

Pennsylvania Municipal Service Co, Utility Billing and Collection Service was appointed for garbage fee collection, and to keep the penalty on delinquent garbage bills at $20 per month.

Appointed the Berkheimer Agency to collect all local enabling taxes and delinquent taxes for 2024.

Mauch Chunk Trust, Mid Penn Bank, CACL Federal Credit Union and Pennsylvania Local Government Investment Trust were appointed township depositories.

William Alonge was appointed to fill Boyle’s unexpired term on the zoning board. Roy Havel was appointed to a three-year term, and John Bashago’s term is for 2024.

Erin Donley was appointed to a new, three-year term on the township planning board. Matt Rudy’s term expires in 2025, and former supervisor Charles Hosler’s term ends at the end of the year.
