The Kaijay Pants Company on Willow Lane in Nesquehoning will be closing, according to plant manager Fay L. Solick.

Solick heard the news from corporate headquarters in New York City late Monday and plant workers got the word yesterday.

Solick said she had little information on the decision but said Warnico, Inc., the parent company, opted to not renew or negotiate a new union contract with UNITE, the garment workers’ union.

Kaijay has been in Nesquehoning for many years and presently employs between 145-150 workers.
