Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Dec. 21 with 15 members in attendance. The president opened the meeting with the reading “Look For Me.” The group was asked to pray for many members on the sick list and Mary Ann Laughlin in the hospital. John Fredericks was given a warm welcome back by the members.

The group meets at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

Luncheon

Pottsville Christian Women’s Club is hosting a “Winter Wonderland” luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at Grace Evangelical Free Church, Cressona.

Dawn Loken will be the guest speaker and special music will be provided by Teresa Heller, Pine Grove.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday at Zion Church Lewistown Valley. Communion will be included in this service. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

The next episode of The Chosen will be shown at 2 p.m. in the social hall on Sunday.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Kim will offer the message at the 10:30 a.m. worship service in Calvary Evangelical Church, Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. Evening service of faith and hop at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday prayer meeting at 7 p.m. on Jan. 10.

Andreas VFW

Andreas VFW Post 5069 will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at the West Penn Annex building.

Tree collection

The Tamaqua Street Department will collect Christmas trees throughout the month of January. Residents should place their trees at the curb and the street department will collect them as time and weather permits.

Christmas trees should not be placed in bags, and all lights and decorations must be removed. Trees with decorations will not be picked up. Residents can also drop off trees behind the Tamaqua Borough Garage, 417 Rear E. Broad St.

Food Pantry

American Primitive Methodist Church working in partnership with the Salvation Army will distribute food twice a month, the second Wednesday of each month from 2 to 5 p.m. and the third Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon and 4 to 5:30 p.m.
