Attorney Joseph J. Matika, a Summit Hill native, was officially welcomed as the new legal counsel to the Summit Hill Borough Council when it met on Tuesday night in the town hall on Ludlow Street.

Matika succeeds Attorney Thomas S. McCready, who retired from the position after many years of service, also to his hometown.

In other changes of personnel, Michael Beshock was named the town’s new fire chief and Mayor Rick Caffrey was designated emergency management coordinator. They both succeed Louis Mitchalk, who held the joint position until retiring from them at the conclusion of 1994.
