Weissport council ready to do business

Weissport Borough Council held its reorganizational meeting along with a regular council meeting on Tuesday.

Borough Solicitor Greg Mousseau started the meeting and the first order of business was to administer the oath to council members Arland Moyer Sr. and Joe Foster, who each won re-election in November.

After taking nominations, Thomas Ketchledge was reappointed council president. Ketchledge then led the meeting.

Foster was will continue as vice president, Amy Shank will continue as secretary and treasurer. Mousseau was reappointed solicitor. Hanover Engineering was reappointed borough engineer, and Brent Greene will serve as code enforcer for the present time.

Mauch Chunk Trust Company was retained as the borough’s depository bank.

Arland Moyer will continue to represent the borough at the Carbon County Municipal Authority for a four-year term, and at the Lehigh Canal Recreation Commission.

Council also adopted the meeting schedule, to be held the first and third Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Borough Hall, 440 Allen Street, Weissport. If the meeting falls on a holiday, the meeting will go the Tuesday.

Council will look further at the Zoning Hearing Board and will discuss it at the next meeting.
