State Police at Bethlehem

State police at the Bethlehem barracks reported the following:

• Police were called to Weis Market, Route 873, Schnecksville, at 2:18 p.m. Dec. 20 for a retail theft (shoplifting) incident.

They said store personnel reported an unidentified white man wearing a black coat, hat, shirt and white sneakers left the store with $251.21 of unpaid items and fled the area in a red Saturn vehicle.

• Two Slatington men, ages 42 and 47, were arrested after police were called to a “large disturbance” at 12:14 a.m. Dec. 10 at a property on Semmel Road in North Whitehall Township.

Police said they tried to detain a man who was intoxicated and disorderly but the man resisted arrest and fought with officers. Simultaneously, they said, a second intoxicated man began interfering with troopers while they were attempting to detain the first male, resulting in troopers attempting to take the second male into custody. They said he too resisted arrest and kicked one of the troopers in the leg.

Police listed five victims in the incident, including two women from Slatington, ages 41 and 20, a 79-year-old Slatington man, a 14-year-old girl from Washington Township and the City of Bethlehem.

• A tobacco sale violation that took place at 4 p.m. Dec. 16 at a property on Route 309 in Heidelberg Township is being investigated by police.

• Police were summoned to a theft by deception/identity theft incident at 1:13 p.m. Nov. 12 at a property on Sunset Drive in North Whitehall Township,

The victim is a 61-year-old man from Schnecksville who reported someone gained access to his cell phone and social media accounts. They said the victim did not sustain any monetary loss in the incident.

• Police said a garbage truck operator is facing charge of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance after they made contact with him at 9:43 a.m. Nov. 11.

It happened when he was driving a company-owned 2007 Mack Truck at the intersection of Mauch Chunk Road and Willow Street in North Whitehall Township. He is also facing a summary offense, police said.

• An 80-year-old Slatington man is the victim of a “washed check” incident that police were called to at 5:01 p.m. Nov. 14.

Police said they were called to the 200 block of High Point Lane, Washington Township, for a report of the check being “washed” for $4,800.

• Police said a 63-year-old Alburtis man is the victim of the theft of a catalytic converter off his vehicle, a 209 Ford F450.

It was reported at 1:50 p.m. Dec. 15 at a property on Mauch Chunk Road, North Whitehall Township, when someone cut the part off the truck and fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The converter is valued at $1,000, police said.

• Steven Sells, 51, of Allentown, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance after they were dispatched to 4224 Grant St., Washington Township, at 6:36 p.m. Aug. 21.

They said upon arrival at the scene they made contact with Sells who was sitting outside his 2044 Chevrolet Yukon. He was transported to the Lehigh County Prison, Allentown.

• Danielle Ivie, 22, and Jordan Piechota, 20, both of Lehighton, were charged with harassment by physical contact after police were called to a disturbance at 6:27 a.m. Aug. 27 at 4111 Hill St., North Whitehall Township.

They said Piechota told them Ivie bit him on the inner right thigh and scratched his nose. Ivie said Piechota struck her in the right side of her face and scratched her on the right forearm.
