The Weatherly boys and Palmerton girls both posted wins in their respective tournament consolation games.

The Wreckers ripped Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech for their first win of the season, while the Blue Bombers edged Northampton.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Weatherly-Columbia-Mont. VT

In the consolation game of the Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech Tournament, Weatherly spoiled the host’s chances for a win by earning its first win of the season with a 75-38 victory on the road.

Three players placed in double figures to spark the Wreckers (1-7), as Ian McKeegan led all scorers with 20 points.

Teammates Corbin Wagner and Nico Saldukas followed right behind with 18 and 10, respectively.

Braxton Brown was the lone Ram (1-6) in double figures with 10 points, while Curtis Morgan just missed with nine.

Jim Thorpe-Bethlehem Christian

In the consolation game of the Slatington Rotary Tournament, Bethlehem Christian pulled out a nail-biter of a win over Jim Thorpe, 44-43.

After the Olympians (1-11) took a 21-19 lead into intermission, the Panthers (5-4) scored when it mattered most.

The Olympians’ Aaron Curran posted a game-high 14 points, while Ben Goldberg chipped in with 10.

Amari Williams paced a trio of Panthers in double figures with 12 points.

Teammates Myles Harris and Gage Transue contributed with 11 and 10, respectively.

Palmerton-Pennridge

Palmerton dropped a narrow 66-64 decision to Pennridge in the consolation game of the Central Catholic Tournament.

The Blue Bombers slipped to 6-3 with the loss.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Palmerton-Northampton

Palmerton made the trip home enjoyable with a hard-fought 35-30 victory over Northampton in the consolation game at PM West Holiday Tournament.

After trailing 23-18 after three quarters of play, the Bombers saved the best for last with a 17-point fourth quarter to rebound from their first loss of the season.

Hannah Barry netted six of her game-high 13 points in the final stanza for the Bombers, who improved to 9-1 on the season.

Teammate Ella Baumgardt chipped in with a seven-point effort.

Anne Benders led the Konkrete Kids (2-8) with 10 points.

Schuylkill Haven ran away with a 50-22 win over Weatherly.

The Wreckers (1-6 overall) couldn’t hold onto a slim first quarter lead, as the Hurricanes (9-0) stole the momentum with an 18-point second quarter to remain undefeated on the season.

Alea Porter netted seven of her team-high 11 points in the Hurricanes’ second quarter.

Bethany Houser led all Wreckers scorers with a 12-point performance.
