Nesquehoning Borough Council acted on or discussed the following items during its monthly meeting on Wednesday.
• Michael Weaver approached council to request a waiver of requirement in the subdivision ordinance for a proposed subdivision at his and his mother’s property. He said that both houses were on one parcel so they are subdividing those plots but there has been an issue due to the sewer line being conjoined. An easement being needed from Lehigh Carbon Community College, the owner of the land next to Weaver’s property.
Solicitor Robert Yurchak said that he would help Weaver with the easement so it can move forward.
Council had previously approved the subdivision on the recommendation of the borough planning commission with the note regarding obtaining an easement for the sewer line; however, since then, Weaver said he has been getting nowhere with solving the issue of the easement and is only wracking up engineering bills.
• Councilman Bruce Nalesnik reported that a new PPL pole has been installed in the New Columbus park for the electrical wiring project. He said that PPL now just has to hook up the power to the wires that were already installed.
• Councilwoman Lois Kuba said that in the spring, the recreation commission will do more memorial benches, which was a success this past summer, after a request was made to purchase more in loved ones’ memories.
• In a 5-2 vote with Council members Mary Fox and Louie Paul voting no, the borough approved ADP for payroll processing as a trial to see if they could outsource their payroll matters.
