Marian gets hoop wins

The Marian girls and boys basketball teams each posted victories Saturday.

Northwestern’s boys basketball team also secured a win, while the Panther Valley girls wrestling team earned a victory.

BOYS BASKETBALL

LV Academy-Marian

Julius Currie’s big game led Marian to its sixth straight win with a 69-48 victory over Lehigh Valley Charter Academy in non-league action.

Julius Currie scored 17 of his game-high 31 points in the third quarter as the Colts (7-1) LV Academy 26-6. Currie hit six 3s in the win. James Rodino added 15 points, and Jacob Miller scored 12.

Ziyon Wilkins scored 21 points for LV Charter Academy (1-3). Joell McNeil scored 10 points.

Salisbury-Northwestern

Northwestern pulled away from Salisbury in the fourth quarter to secure a 59-49 win over Salisbury in Colonial League action.

Shane Marth had 19 points for the Tigers (4-2, 3-1), who outscored the Falcons 18-8 in the final period. Mason Bollinger added 17 points in the win.

Steven Lozada and Jake Zellin each scored 10 points for Salisbury (4-3, 2-3).

Pleasant Vy.-Moravian

A big second half helped Pleasant Valley pull away from Moravian Academy for a 61-38 win in non-league action on Friday.

Zach Pandolfo scored 11 of his team high 17 points in the second half as the Bears (2-7) outscored the Lions 38-16 over the final two quarters. Sean Hallenbeck added 12 points.

Jackson Reid had 16 points for Moravian (3-6), while Keeyan Miller added 11.

Marian rolled to another dominant win, topping Lehigh Valley Charter Academy 82-10.

Addy Fritz led the Fillies (7-1) with 20 points. Frankie Martinelli had 14 points, while Carly Minchhoff added 13 points and Gianna Corrado scored 10 as Marian won its seventh game in a row.

GIRLS WRESTLING

Panther Valley-Emmaus- Northampton-Freedom

Panther Valley went 1-2 in a quad meet with Emmaus, Northampton and Freedom.

The Panthers secured a 37-36 win over Emmaus on the third criteria, most pins. Northampton topped PV 48-26, while Freedom posted a 42-24 victory over the Panthers.

Mayrin Vazquez-Frias (142), Kyla McQuilen (148), Anelia Bennick (155), Haylee Fessler (190) and Brenda Banks (235) all secured falls in the win against the Hornets, who had one pin in the match.

Fessler (190) also had a pin against Northampton, while McQuilen (148) and Alisa Williams (170) had a pin against Freedom.
