Jim Thorpe’s newest fire engine, a $25,000 pumper, was dedicated over the weekend at the Fairview Hose Company.

The keys to the truck were presented to Assistant Fire Chief Gary Solt by Jack Huber, chairman of the public service committee of the Jim Thorpe Borough Council.

Council President Francis Marzen addressed the assemblage while Charles McTague, president of the Fairview company, presented a $10,000 check to Marzen, to help pay for the truck.

Marzen said the new apparatus is Jim Thorpe’s first piece of new equipment in 19 years.

The 1,000-gallon pumper will replace a 1946 Seagraves pumper.
