Local roundup: Results from Dec. 11

It was a good day for Lehighton, Marian and Panther Valley teams on Monday.

The Marian and Panther boys and girls basketball teams each recorded wins, while Lehighton scored victories in boys basketball and wrestling action.

Elsewhere, the Palmerton and Northwestern girls basketball teams also posted wins.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Jim Thorpe-Lehighton

Blake Roberts scored a game-high 15 points to lead Lehighton to a 58-36 thumping of Jim Thorpe in Schuylkill League action.

Joe Roth added 12 for the Indians, who upped their record to 3-1.

Ben Goldberg had 10 points for the Olympians, who remained winless at 0-4.

Pine Grove-Panther Valley

Panther Valley pulled away for a 49-43 Schuylkill League win over visiting Pine Grove.

Down 35-33 entering the fourth quarter, Chase Weaver scored 11 of his team-high 13 points in the final frame for the Panthers (4-1, 2-0 SL).

Drew Kokinda and Logan Fisher kept PV close, as both chipped in with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Owen Hannevig led all scorers with 15 points for the Cardinals (0-5, 0-2 SL), while Chase Sarge added 12.

Pottsville jumped out early and never looked back en route to a 74-47 Schuylkill League win over visiting Tamaqua.

Christian Alvarez had the hot hand for the Tide (3-2 overall; 2-0 SL), leading all scorers with 26 points. Derek Watkins added 10.

The Blue Raiders (2-3; 0-2) were led by Cooper Ansbach, who finished with a team high 19 points. Connor Dillon and Noah Mateyak added 11 and nine, respectively.

Tessa Seagreaves was the lone Spartan (1-2; 0-2) in double figures, as she finished with a team-high 14 points.

The Wreckers’ Jaxon McKeegan and the Indians’ Carl Linghan each posted nine points apiece.
