Harlem Wizards wow at Lehighton school show
On Nov. 29, the Harlem Wizards brought their amazing basketball show to the Lehighton Area Elementary Center. The Wizards provide fundraising events for schools and nonprofit organizations all over the country, having performed before over 450 communities while raising more than $3 million in the last year alone.
Their brand of showmanship involves the audience, teachers and a team of world class basketball talent and leaves everyone with memories of a night that will be long remembered.
During the event, the Wizards were in top form. The teachers were good sports, the audience also were a part of the fun on the court. Slams and jams were the order of the day, and the Wizards displayed their awesome skills that brought cheers from the audience.
Humor was the theme of the night, and no one escaped the tricks and schemes of the well-oiled Wizards basketball machine.
The Lehighton Education and Athletic Foundation (LEAF) thanked the teachers for their efforts on the court, the Lehighton Area High School Honor Society and Student Council for staffing the Wizard’s souvenir stand and overseeing the 50-50 drawing.
LEAF President, Tim Tkach, LEAF Secretary Sherry Armbruster, and Board members Chris Knappenberger, Noah Tkach, Renee Biechy, Beth Cressley and Tracy Newton also played important parts in ensuring the event went off in spectacular fashion.
LEAF is an independent, charitable organization that has been privately established to cooperate with the Lehighton Area School District in supporting educational programs and extracurricular activities that are outside of the School District’s operational budget.
