Mahoning Twp. supervisor dies

An opening exists on the Mahoning Township board of supervisors following the passing of a member.

Supervisor David Pollock, 67, who served as a township supervisor, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday.

Pollock was appointed in July to an empty seat on the board, returning to board in which he previously served for 3½ years.

In June, the board accepted the resignation of Supervisor Brian Reeser.

Reeser resigned because he was moving out of the township. He had served on the board since 2020.

Pollock was the husband of Dorothy (Coombe) Pollock for 44 years. They raised four children.

Pollock was a lifetime member of Mahoning Valley Fire Company No. 1. He served as chief from 1983-1987, and again from 1996-2008.

He was a 1974 graduate of Lehighton Area High School.

Funeral services will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 15 in the Ovsak Funeral Home, 190 S. Fourth St., Lehighton.

Supervisors are scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
