Weissport has Christmas celebration

The Weissport Event Committee thanked the people and organizations that took part in the annual Christmas parade on Saturday.

Santa Claus and local organizations went through the town and ended up at the borough park, where Santa sat in the gazebo and spoke with the children. The kids, between 40 or 50, were given gifts and everyone enjoyed hot cocoa.

“We also received several donations,” Council President Tom Ketchledge said. “We received donations from Lehighton Ford, Chantilly’s, HTA Machine Shop, Dunkin’ Donuts, and Mario’s.”

The committee also installed Christmas lights in the borough park.

Ketchledge said someone cut one of the lights strands.

Future plans for the Event Committee include possibly running conduit and installing some added outlets around the park.
