State police at Schuylkill Haven said a man swallowed methamphetamine after a traffic stop police made at 7:37 a.m. Nov. 22 at the intersection of Lane and Pike streets in Port Carbon, Schuylkill County.
Police said they pulled over a 2008 Ford Focus for a traffic violation and arrested the driver of the car for driving under the influence.
They said a passenger in the car was found to be in possession of the methamphetamines. They said he grabbed it out of the trooper’s hands and ingested it before fleeing on foot. A short pursuit ensued until the passenger was taken into custody, transported to the barracks where charges were prepared against him before he was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Dave Plachko.
Police said they arrested Marcus McCabe, 24, of Port Carbon, and Shawn Tobin, 37, of Middleport, but did not indicate which one was the driver nor who the passenger was.
