Discover Advent

Family Faith, Discover Advent will take place tonight at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

There will be Interactive Story Time, Junior Choir singing “O Antiphons,” cookie decorating, Advent Escape Room, scavenger hunt and Advent Wreath trimmings and more.

Those attending are asked to bring a non-perishable donation for the PVEN Food Bank.

PTO meeting

The Pleasant Valley Elementary School PTO is slated to meet at 4 p.m., tomorrow.

Toy program ends

The Toys for Tots program sign-ups is ending at the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network tomorrow.

Angel Tree applicants were automatically registered for Toys for Tots.

Certain documentation is needed to apply; proof of address for current month (lease or property tax information); birth certificate and/or custody paperwork per child(ren) being registered; proof of household income for current month (pay stubs, cash assistance if applicable) must include all members of the household.

Registered children need 3 wishes & clothing/shoe sizes. There is a $50 limit per gift. Gift cards will not be accepted.

The PVE PTO Holiday Shop is set for Saturday.

Photo winner

Monroe County Conservation District’s Environmental Education Center Photo Contest Art Opening is set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

A slideshow will feature entrants in the Monroe County Natural Resources Photo Contest and winners will be revealed. The top 12 photos will be available on a 2024 calendar.

Proceeds from calendar sales will benefit environmental education programs at Kettle Creek.

Winning photos will be displayed in the MCCD’s art gallery. The exhibit will run through Jan. 31, 2024.

Children’s shopping

Effort UMC is holding a special event for its children Sunday. Christian Education and the Youth Group are teaming up and holding a Christmas Shopping event allowing the church youth, already signed up, to select gifts for their immediate family. Lunch will be provided and the children will select gifts, wrap them and take home. They will start during Sunday School classes and end by 1:30 p.m.

Oldtime Christmas

On Dec. 2 and 3, 9 and 10, Quiet Valley will present its 33rd Old Time Christmas from 2:30 to 7 p.m., with public tours every 15 minutes.

The presentations include a live Nativity, carols in the School House, Christmas Tales of Yore, PA German holiday traditions, a visit from the Belsnickel, handcrafted holiday gifts, and tasty treats.

K’town Christmas

The Kunkletown Christmas will be celebrated at St. Matthew’s UCC Saturday, beginning at 6 p.m.

One can join R.J. Cramer, Gina Serrano, Brian Dean Moore, St. Matthew’s choir and more to celebrate the holidays.

On Sunday, the church will hold its annual meeting after the morning service.

It promises to be a time of sharing information about St. Matthew’s and vote for new Council members and the 2024 Budget.

Line Dancing

American Legion Post 927, Gilbert, will host a Country Line Dancing event on Saturday, beginning at 6 p.m. with cost-free dance lessons to 7:30 p.m.

That is to be followed by open dancing to 10 p.m. There is an admission cost.

A kitchen menu will be offered for purchase and the satellite bar will also have items to purchase.
