Krampusnacht Festival returns for third year

The Black Forest Krampusnacht Festival is back for its third year, in its new location at the Hofford Mill.

This year the fairy tale festival is more devilish than ever, promising attractions, games, and fun.

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 2, at The Hofford Mill, 500 Bridge St., Weissport, visitors will step into the realm of old world folklore, where Krampus is king and the nice list doesn’t apply. This event is open to all ages and is free to attend. In case of inclement weather, the rain date is Dec. 3.

The Krampusnacht will gather for a Krampuslauf parade to kick off the festival.

Come dressed in your Krampus-themed attire and join the parade to compete for prizes. The judging panel is led by the Susquehanna Krampus.

Other highlights include: Krampus Karnival Games; local musical talent featuring Big Country, The Peaceful Outlaws, Jessica Corbin, Condition Oakland, Sweet Ann Marie and The Pennsylvania Villagers; Doc Roberts of Colossal Radio as afternoon MC; Madame Crufelli showcases Merry Mutilations; Holiday Movie Cuts; authentic Eastern European foods; adult beverages by Big creek Vineyard and Coal Country Boilo & the SlyFox Brewing Company plus dozens of vendors.

In addition, Jokers Are Wild Game Cafe brings Dungeons and Dragons Krampus mini campaigns and Robbie’s Balloons will be making an interactive Krampus balloon installation.

There will be folklore story time with Danielle Martin of Ambler Library and local art pieces by members of the Keystone Art Collective and Carbon County Art League.

While this day showcases the darker side of the Christmas season, the event also will accept donations to both Toys for Tots and Give a Gobbler organizations. People are asked to bring a new toy or nonperishable food item.

The weekend kicks off with the Krampusnacht Preparty at the Krampusnacht Kreepshow on Dec. 1.

This event is held from 5-10 p.m. and is for adults 21 and older.

Indulge in the musical antics of Habeas Krampus, led by Mistress Krismas as she dishes out holiday styled punishments for the naughty. Also enjoy holiday classics by Jessica Corbin and bewitching performances from Madame Crufeli, The Undead Fortune Teller and Lady Gypsy, the Professional Monstrosity. There is an entry fee for this event.

The third annual Black Forest Krampusnacht Festival is sponsored by Big Creek Vineyard, Black Rock Events, The Hofford Mill, Great Blue Heron, Coal Country Boilo, Colossal Radio, Madame Crufeli, Robbie’s Balloons, Wax Pax Records, Jokers Are Wild and The Keystone Arts Collective.
