Pleasant Valley school board honors staff, students

Acknowledgments of good work were expressed at the Pleasant Valley School Board meeting Thursday night

Business manager Michael Simonetta presented assistant business manager Tammy Smale with a framed certificate, which she achieved through the Pennsylvania Certified School Business Administrative Program through the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials.

Simonetta said it is an honor to go through the program and become a certified school business administrator. The goal of the program is for school business professionals to be acknowledged for their knowledge, expertise and leadership in contributing the success of the students.

“She is the consummate professional and always sets the example for district staff. She consistently performs over and above expectations. She dedicates extra personal time to make sure all information is gathered for sound decision,” Simonetta said. “She is a valuable asset to the executive team and to the entire district.”

School board President Sue Kresge said, “Congratulations Tammy. I echo all the words Mike said. You are an outstanding employee.”

Teachers, staff and students who have done an exceptional job were also recognized at the meeting.

The teachers and staff include: PVE - Anne Geffken-Gordon, teacher, and June Pepe; PVI - Patrick Smith, teacher, and Carlene Altemose; PVM - Loretta Snyder, teacher, and Doreen Dunlap, secretary; and PVH - Maricatherine Garr, teacher, and Michael Walters, information system technician.

The students include: Kindergarten, Sydney Holck; first grade, Bella Uhler; second grade, Hudson Polchik; third grade, Raegan Kilmer; fourth grade, Aria Oxenreider; fifth grade, Mazzy Monroe; sixth grade, Kayla Finn; seventh grade, Zidan Moore; eighth grade, Eloise Rice; ninth grade, Trinity Tanzillo; tenth grade, Nasiriyah Ash; eleventh grade, Mackenna Ertle; twelfth grade, Mya Manigo; Bears Academy, twelfth grade, Jonathan Paul.
