Food pantry receives donation of refrigerator

The Palmerton Food Pantry has an addition to better serve the needs of its clients.

Through the generosity of the Behler Foundation, the pantry recently obtained a commercial 49 cubic foot refrigerator.

The addition of the refrigerator will allow the pantry to provide more fresh fruits, vegetables, milk, eggs, and other dairy products to its clients, said pantry co-director Susie Arner.

“We’ve increased the number of families in need of food and lack of space to store perishable items we were able to provide for them,” Arner said.

John DeSousa, co-director of the pantry, added “it gives us an additional opportunity to distribute perishable foods.”

Arner said the director of the Behler Foundation, Judy Bollinger, is “pleased to provide philanthropic work for the community.”
