November 18, 1988 - Panther Valley rallies to win the District 11 Class 1A championship, topping Marian, 16-13, on Don McGorry’s 30-yard field goal with 14 seconds left in regulation. The Panthers, coached by Tom Bonner, trail 13-0 before starting their comeback. PV gets on the board when Erik Pecha tosses a 38-yard touchdown pass to Tommy Miller. The Panthers tie the contest in the third frame on Pecha’s 1-yard TD run and McGorry’s PAT. Taking over at Marian’s 47 with 1:29 left, Pecha connects with Miller twice for a combined 34 yards to help set up McGorry’s winning kick. PV’s Cory Sheridan ends the contest with 116 rushing yards on 29 carries.
