Sunday worship with Holy Communion at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, begins at 9:30 a.m. Included during this time are Praise duets by Steve Schweitzer and Brian Hoffner. Synodically Approved Lay Minister SALM Kathy Long presides

No Sunday Church School classes will be held on Nov. 19. In its place, the annual meeting of the Congregation begins at 10:45 a.m. Election of council members and approval of the 2024 budget takes place. Members are encouraged to attend. The Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays (and third Tuesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting. Residents who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive supplemental food.

The Trinity Thrift Store hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays. Donation drop-offs are accepted during store hours on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, limited to five bags or boxes. Sales receipts support the food pantry. Looking ahead is the thrift store’s Christmas Sale, to be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 24, 25, 27 and 28. It is a cash only event. Items featured include indoor and outdoor decorations, jewelry, cards, knickknacks, toys and more. Those visiting should enter on Iron Street at Luther Hall.

BECC

Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, 222 North St., Lehighton, will hold Morning Worship at 10:45 a.m. Sunday. Sunday school will be held at 9:30 a.m. and Junior Church for ages 6-12 resumes.

Pastor Greg will be leading a six-week Bible study on “developing a biblical worldview” beginning at 9:30 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. Everyone is welcome.

Potluck lunch immediately following worship. Bring a covered dish or two. Community always welcome. Bring a friend.

• Mondays: Ladies’ Bible Study, 7 p.m.

• Tuesdays: Prayer meeting, 7 p.m.; Girl Scouts Troop 3620 at 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.

• Wednesdays: Boy Scouts at 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.

• Thursday: Men’s Bible Study, 5 a.m. at BECC; Girl Scout Service unit meeting at 7 p.m. in BECC fellowship hall; Prayer and worship night at Bethany Wesleyan Church at 6:30 p.m.

Upcoming events:

• Dec. 2: decorating the church for Christmas at 9 a.m.; also tree in park.

• Dec. 3: Community Christmas tree lighting in upper park at 6 p.m.

• Dec. 9: Christmas party and potluck at 5 p.m. Bring a covered dish or two and 1 dozen cookies for our shut-ins, and a $5 wrapped “white elephant” gift to exchange.

St. John’s

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Mahoning, 826 Mahoning Dr. W., Lehighton will hold a worship service at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, in Fellowship Hall.

A congregational council meeting is planned for noon on Sunday following worship service.

Dinkey Memorial has a food cupboard available to those in need of supplemental food resources. It is available to members of Dinkey Memorial and St. John’s, and to residents of East Penn Township. The distribution is the third Thursday of every month from 3:30-5 p.m. in Dinkey’s Social Room located below the Sanctuary. If you or anyone you know would benefit from receiving food from the Community Cupboard, please speak with Pastor Tony.

Bus Trip: St. John’s & Dinkey Memorial churches are scheduling a bus trip for April 18, 2024 to the Daniel show at Sight and Sound. Ticket includes the bus, Sight and Sound tickets, meal at Bird & Hand Restaurant and tip for the bus driver. Any questions, contact Deb Scheckler, dscheckler@gmail.com. Grief Support will be held at 6 p.m. on Nov. 20.

A Thanksgiving Eve service will be held at 7 p.m. on Nov. 22 at Ben Salem UCC.
