Bowmanstown plans no tax hike

Bowmanstown residents again will be spared a tax increase.

Borough council on a 6-0 vote Tuesday agreed to advertise the 2024 proposed budget for adoption at its meeting Dec. 5.

If the board were to follow suit and grant next year’s spending plan with no tax increase, it would leave the borough’s millage rate at 13.005 mills.

Councilman Rob Moyer said that while the budget does not raise taxes, the borough will have to bring in money to cover it.

“Is it balanced? You can argue it is, you can argue it’s not.”

Councilman William Ravert was absent.

This year, residents also did not see an increase in their municipal tax rates after council on a 3-2 vote granted final adoption of the 2023 budget.
