Pleasant Valley approves LRO staff, nods to resignation
The Pleasant Valley School Board approved hiring current teachers, nurses and paraprofessionals to staff the after school program started last year called Learning Recovery Opportunity. And learned of the resignation of a longtime employee.
Amy Miller, a special education teacher at the high school, turned in her resignation.
Donna Yozwiak, of Chestnuthill Township and a candidate for school board, said during public comment, “It saddens me once again to see that a 20-year veteran teacher is leaving our district. Ms. Amy Miller is departing to teach elsewhere. She and I had a very lengthy conversation today, and there’s a rumor going around that she’s leaving Pleasant Valley after 20 years because of the travel distance between her home and the school, and that is completely incorrect.
“Since we have learned that there are now exit interviews conducted at Pleasant Valley, I hope the board really looks at Ms. Miller’s exit interview. For such a dedicated professional to be exiting our district after two decades brings me pause. I wish she would stay.”
