Eldred meeting

The Eldred Township board of supervisors will hold a special meeting at 5 p.m., Tuesday, at the Eldred Township Municipal Building in Kunkletown.

The purpose of the meeting is a budget workshop and any other business that comes before the board.

Church sale

Effort UMC has two items for sale. One is a lift chair that is only 2 months old.

The other is a full size mattress and box spring. Prices to be discussed with the seller.

Visitation plan

The Western Pocono Women’s Club has an outing planned to The Getz Personal Care Home for next week Thursday to have a fun visit with the residents.

WE Missions

The next West End Missions meal at Our Lady Queen of Peace will be served at 4:30 p.m., Nov. 9.

Historical display

In honor of Veterans the Ross Township Historical Society museum will be open on Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and every second Saturday of each month thereafter at the same time. The society is showcasing uniforms from the First and Second World War along with a uniform from the Korean War and associated military related items.

New donations have arrived, with a few specific to the military. The community is invited to come join in to honor those who have served.

There is no charge for admission and all are welcome. The museum is located at 258 Anchorage Road, Saylorsburg. Look for the large “Open” flag. For more information contact judyj@ptd.net. and/or visit the website rosshistoricalsociety.com.

Patriots Ball

VALOR will host its annual Patriots Ball on Nov. 11 from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. at Stroudsmoor Country Inn, Stroudsburg. The public and veterans are invited.

Angel Closet aid

The Western Pocono Women’s Club is collecting donations for the Angel’s Closet. That is an organization that donates layettes to local hospitals for those in need.

Currently needed are diapers, wipes, sleepers, sweaters, hooded towels, bibs, receiving blankets and outfits for a baby up to 10 pounds to fill these layettes.

OTOH meets

Operation: Touch of Home will meet at 7 p.m., Nov. 14, at the American Legion Post 927 in Gilbert.

Pizza sale

McMichaels UMC is holding a pizza sale through Nov. 9. Orders are due with Martha Stout at 570-992-6742 by then.

Pick-up is at the church on Nov. 18. The pizzas are all 12-inch, cheese only.

WPLC meeting

The Western Pocono Lions Club has changed its meeting time to noon at Cherry’s Restaurant. The next meeting will be held at the Kresgeville restaurant Nov. 16.

T’day holiday meal

McMichaels UMC has announced it is serving a free Thanksgiving meal to anyone in the community, beginning at 2 p.m., Nov. 23. Reservations must be made by calling 610-597-1030. There will be no take-out meals.

The church considers it a blessing to share a meal and fellowship with many others from the community.

Craft fair plus

The Blue Ridge Hook & Ladder Fire Company Auxiliary is having a craft fair and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 19.

There will be crafts, including hand-knit sweaters, crocheted items, natural soaps, gifts for the home, Liztech Pins and many other items. Pictures with Santa will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will also be the “Assorted Bricks” quilt raffle drawing, bake sale, and lunch will be served.

The firehouse is located on Rt. 115 across from Ye Olde Saylors Inn in Saylorsburg.

Holiday help

The PVEN will accept Toys for Tots program sign-ups through Nov. 30.

Certain documentation is needed to apply; proof of address for current month (lease or property tax information); birth certificate and/or custody paperwork per child(ren) being registered; proof of household income for current month (pay stubs, cash assistance if applicable) must include all members of the household.

Registered children need 3 wishes & clothing/shoe sizes. There is a $50 limit per gift. Gift cards will not be accepted.
