Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Oct. 26 with 25 members in attendance.

Shirley Kaiser was added to the sick list. Eileen Keich will stand in as Vice-President while Shirley is out. The group will have a Chinese auction on Nov. 9 at noon. The group meets at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday at Zion Church Lewistown Valley. Communion will be included during this service. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

Luncheon

Pottsville Christian Women’s Club luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 14. Reservations by Nov. 8 by calling Gale: 570-527-2224 or Sue: 570-617-9490. There is a fee. Speaker is Bobbie DeZarn and special music by Brenda Reed.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Kim will offer the message at the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Church, Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. and evening service at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 8 praise and worship at 7 p.m.

Diaper Depot

Diaper Depot, the free diaper ministry at Zion Lutheran Church in Tamaqua, is accepting new clients for its Nov. 18 distribution.

You must be a resident of the Tamaqua Area School District and make a request at www.ziontamaqua.com by Nov. 4. You will be given an appointment time for the Nov. 18 distribution. The first time you pick up diapers, you must present a birth certificate for the child or children and some type of proof of residence. Diapers are available for children up to age 4 sizes NB to 6 and pullups 2T-3T and 3T-4T.

Diaper Depot is a community pantry of the Greater Philadelphia Diaper Bank. Zion is located at the corner of Greenwood and Mauch Chunk streets in Tamaqua.

Andreas VFW

Andreas VFW Post 5069 will meet at 7 p.m. on Nov. 8 at the West Penn Annex. The group will hold its Veterans Day breakfast at 10 a.m. on Nov. 11 at the Mason jar. All paid members and one guest are invited.

Thrift Sale

Blessings, Zion Lutheran’s thrift ministry, is hosting a one-day fall sale, Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The sale features gently used fall and winter clothing and school uniforms along with general household items, books, toys and holiday decorations. A limited kitchen take-out menu is available. Credit cards and cash are accepted. No personal checks.

Food Pantry

American Primitive Methodist Church working in partnership with the Salvation Army will distribute food twice a month, the second Wednesday of each month from 2 to 5 p.m. and the third Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon and 4 to 5:30 p.m.
