Palmerton Borough Council took the following action on Thursday:

• Hired Larry Wallace and John Wilk as leaf collection employees at the rate of $15 an hour.

• Appointed an individual as a junior firefighter, but declined to name the person because of their age.

• Approved a request for fire police from Slatington Borough for the Northern Lehigh Halloween Parade, which was held this past Saturday.

• Approved a request for fire police from Nesquehoning Borough for the Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 5.

• Approved a request for fire police from Lehighton Borough for the Snowflake 5K Dec. 9.

• Announced that borough council will meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 16.
