Cory Kepner resigns from Palmerton council

A seat is up for grabs residents Palmerton residents interested in local government.

Borough council on a 5-0 vote Thursday accepted the resignation of Councilman Cory Kepner.

Afterward, council agreed to accept letters of intent to fill the vacancy until Nov. 6.

Council, which next meets on Nov. 2, said it plans to take action to appoint a new council member at its Nov. 16 meeting.

Council President Terry Costenbader asked that a letter of thanks be sent to Kepner for his service.

After the meeting, borough Manager Autumn Canfield said Kepner, who was not at the meeting, resigned due to “personal reasons.”

Kepner had served on council since January 2022.

At that time, Kepner was sworn in for a four-year term.

Councilman Kris Hoffner was also absent from Thursday’s meeting.
