Soup sale orders

Just a reminder that orders for the Tamaqua Community Soup Sale can be made in person at Hope & Coffee or on Hope & Coffee’s website during their regular business hours. The final day to order soups is Sunday.

Soup pickup is Nov. 4 at Trinity UCC in Tamaqua from 9 a.m. to noon. Soup sales benefit the food pantries in Tamaqua serving more than 350 families a month.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Oct. 19 with 23 members in attendance. The meeting was opened with the reading “God Made This Day.”

Norma Lee Burke was given a warm welcome back by the group. Fall and Halloween decorations were won my Mary Reed and Eleanor Schmerfeld.

The group meets at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

St. John Evangelical Events

• Chili Cook-off and Basket Raffle will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Shop and Drop to view baskets will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. Light lunch served. The event will take place at 200 E. Mauch Chunk St., Tamaqua. Open to public. Eat in only.

• Two Kings Fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Nov. 5. Dine in or take out. Benefits St. John Lutheran Church, Tamaqua for kitchen renovations. Please mention to your server that you are supporting St. John Lutheran Church, Tamaqua.

Family Halloween Event

Pumpkin painting, games, refreshments, candy and more are planned for the Jack-o’-lantern Jamboree family event from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday hosted by Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tamaqua.

The free, safe, indoor Halloween event for children is open to all area families. Zion is located at Mauch Chunk and Greenwood streets.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday at Zion Church Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

Zion Men will meet at 8 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Hall.

St. Peter’s West Penn

Calvary Lewistown

Jerry Petrole, guest speaker, will offer the message at the 10:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Church, Lewistown Valley. Special music will be provided by the Gerbers. No evening service this week. Prayer and share at 7 p.m. on Nov. 1.

Happy Pumpkin carving at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28. Pumpkins will be provided.
