Bird seed sale

Monroe County Conservation District’s Environmental Education Center has scheduled its truckload wild bird seed sale with extras available for Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Featured is Aspen song bird seed blends.

Extra bird seed will be available on the day of the sale on a first-come, first-serve basis.

For more information contact the EE Center by calling 570-629-3061, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. One may also download the order form from the website: www.mcconservation.org.

Two Spooktaculars

Chestnuthill Park & Recreation is holding a Spooktacular event on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Township Park on Rt. 715. It will include a magic show, horse-drawn wagon rides, apple cider making, costume contest, trunk or treat, Halloween craft, games, strolling magic, vendors and crafters, and food and drinks.

Attendees may also bring an item for PVEN for a chance to win a gift card. The Historical Society will be there with items from last year at bargain prices.

Not discounted are the West End history books, which sell for a set amount each.

Kinsley’s ShopRite, Brodheadsville, is hosting a Spooktacular party from 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday.

It will include costume contest, goody bags, games, pony rides, face painting, arts and crafts, and music.

It is being held rain or shine.

Movie time

Chestnuthill Township’s movie event in the Park is set for 7 p.m. Friday. It was rescheduled due to last week’s forecast.

Harvest Fest

Cornerstone Community Church, on Polk Township Road, Kresgeville, is hosting its 2nd annual Fall Harvest Fest & Trunk or Treat event from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday.

It is a community event and will include harvest-themed trunks with treats, games, crafts, face painting, popcorn, cotton candy, hot cocoa, coffee and free food and more.

The church is also a participating site for the local aspect of the Operation Christmas Child program and will have information, boxes and labels for that program available in due time.

Mark Wells will deliver the message at Effort UMC this Sunday.

Liberty Tree event

America250PA and The Pennsylvania Freemasons will present the planting of a certified Liberty Tree at the Old Mill at 5818 Hamilton Rd. East, Sciota, at 4 p.m., Sunday.

During the American Revolutionary War, the Sons of Liberty often convened under the nation’s original Liberty Tree in Boston to discuss their opposition to British rule in the colonies. Direct descendants of this original Liberty Tree have been rescued and revived and will now be planted across the Commonwealth ahead of the nation’s Semiquincentennial.

Polk Fire event

Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company will hold Trunk or Treat at the Polk Township firehouse from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday.

Also present will be the Lehighton State Police-Lehighton Barracks, Lehigh Valley Health Network, EMS and Monroe County Control Center E911.

Soup sale begins

November’s soup sale at Effort UMC features roasted harvest vegetable and old-fashioned chicken noodle.

Soups will be on sale from Nov. 1 through 15 with a pickup date of Nov. 19 after each service.

Pork & Kraut

Effort UMC will hold its annual all-you-can-eat pork & sauerkraut dinner (while supplies last) from 4 to 6:30 p.m., Nov. 4. The meal will include roast pork loin, mashed potatoes, vegetable, applesauce, roll, homemade desserts, coffee, tea and other beverages.

The dinner is free for children 2 and under. The church is handicapped accessible.

Annual bazaar

St. Matthew’s UCC, Kunkletown, has announced its annual bazaar coming on Nov. 4.

Fall celebration

Light in the Night, an autumn community celebration, a late afternoon of fun, entertainment, and information for the family will be happening at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church in 10 days.

It is a Christian themed Harvest Fest set for 3 to 6 p.m., Nov. 5. Community organizations will be represented with displays and information.

Various local services, from an ambulance to a firetruck, to Safe Kids fingerprinting by police, will be there.

Trunk/Treat displays are planned, as are craft tables for children. Music, food trucks, pony rides are all in place waiting for folks’ arrival. There are no admission charges.

Get to know the folks of St. Peter’s UMC. The church is located at 924 Rt. 115, Saylorsburg, next to Dollar General.
