The Fairview Hose Co. Social Club continued serving the community with a block shoot on Friday at the club in Jim Thorpe.
“All the money we make today will go to the Jim Thorpe Police Department,” said Donald Mertz, president of the club. “We expect somewhere between 50 and 75 people to take part over the evening.”
Sponsors and donations for the block shoot were made by Ron Sheehan, Pete Hoherchak Jr, Donnie Mertz, Cathy Cassidy, The Boatyard, Mike and Gail Wernett, Nancy Mitchell, Lora and Don Cougle, Maureen Gipprich, Carl and Missi Hunsicker, Lisa Albrecht, and Debbie Sebelin.
The club raises funds for local needs such as cancer patients or organizations. It also hold events for children, and has events at Easter and Christmas for kids.
The Social Club will be open from 5-7 p.m. Saturday for trick or treat with hot dogs, candy, and water for children.
