October 21, 1977 - Slatington finishes with the top runner and the top team at the Centennial League cross country meet. Barry Eckhart wins his ninth consecutive race by crossing the finish line in a time of 15:20 as the Bulldogs, coached by Glenn Rissmiller, place first with 22 points. Slatington’s Bruce Kemmerer takes second while Lehighton, which places second in the team standings, receives a third-place finish from Steve Blacketter. Other Bulldogs in the top 10 include Greg Shiner (fifth), Duane Beers (sixth), Don Berger (eighth) and Marc Benninger (10th).
