Bechtold joins Camelback as vp of operations

Camelback Resort has named Terry Bechtold its new vice president of operations.

Bechtold will oversee and direct all resort departments, including the lodge, housekeeping, front desk, retail, Camelbeach and all recreational activities.

According to David Makarsky, managing director of Camelback Resort, Bechtold is an hospitality industry leader with more than three decades of industry experience.

“We are thrilled to have Terry join our team as we work to improve and expand the multiple seasonal adventure experiences offered at our growing resort,” Makarsky said. “With a wide range of experience, he has an extensive background in all facets of the hospitality industry and a strong track record in overseeing all operational activities within destination properties.”

Before joining Camelback, Bechtold ran his own consulting firm and was vice president of operations for Kentucky-based AJS Hotels.

He has held multiple executive-level positions at luxury resorts across the country and in the Caribbean, among them 11 years as a general manager at multiple Starwood Hotels – including four years as the general manager of the Five-Star St. Regis Bahía Beach Resort in Puerto Rico, managing director of Florida’s Hammock Beach Resort, Club & Spa and vice president of operations at the One & Only Ocean Club, Paradise Island in the Bahamas.

Bechtold earned his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and finance at San Jose State University, where he was a catcher on the school’s baseball team and holds a certificate in hotel management from Jean-Pierre Fissore, Lycée Technique Hôtelier.
