Summit Hill man dies from crash injuries

A Summit Hill man has died as a result of injuries suffered in wrong-way fatal crash on Oct. 5 on Route 22 in Bethlehem Township.

The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office said Barry W. Fulton, 58, of Summit Hill died at 7:43 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke’s University Hospital in Bethlehem. State police at the Bethlehem barracks said the incident happened on Route 22 eastbound at the Route 33 interchange and involved two pickup trucks and a passenger vehicle.

Police said Fulton was driving a Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Route 33 northbound and exited the ramp from Route 22 eastbound to Route 33 northbound, traveling in the wrong direction. Traffic on Route 22 eastbound was being detoured on Route 33 southbound and traffic was unable to exit from Route 33 southbound to Route 22 eastbound. Police said John Michael Woodburn, a 22-year-old man from Bethlehem, was pronounced dead at the scene. Fulton and another driver, whose name has not been released, were transported to hospitals. Assisting at the scene were Troop M Forensic Services, the Troop M Collision Analysis Reconstruction Specialist Unit, the Northampton County Coroner, Bethlehem Township Fire Department, Nancy Run Fire Department and Fast Lane Towing.
