Lehighton man charged in fatal Kidder crash

Kidder Township Police on Monday charged a Lehighton man as a result of a fatal motor vehicle crash on Sept. 14 on Route 940 in the township.

Michael Hotton, 60, of Lehighton was charged with felony counts of homicide by vehicle while DUI, aggravated assault while DUI, misdemeanor counts of involuntary manslaughter and other related charges.

He was arraigned Monday by Magistrate Joseph Homanko in Weatherly.

The two-vehicle head-on crash with entrapment occurred near the entrance to the Francis Walter Dam.

Police said a Chevy Blazer driven by Hotton crashed head-on with a Suzuki SX4, driven by Raymond Dugan, 79, of White Haven.

Both drivers were extricated by Lake Harmony, Albrightsville and Penn Forest fire companies and transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital where Dugan was pronounced dead.
