State police at Lehighton - crashes

State police at Lehighton reported on several crashes:

• Gavin R. Kuntz, 24, of Lehighton, was injured in a crash at 8:47 p.m. Oct. 3 on West Lizard Creek Road in East Penn Township.

Police said he was transported by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance Association to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township, to be treated for suspected minor injuries.

Police said he was driving a 2014 Jeep Liberty northbound when he suffered a medical episode, presumably a seizure, causing him to momentarily blackout. Police said the Liberty sideswiped a parked 2008 Subaru Impreza and a 2008 Chevrolet Impala.

• Two people were hurt, one seriously, in a crash at 11:41 a.m. Sept. 26 at the intersection of Blue Ridge and Pennell roads in Ross Township.

Police said Julio E. Rodriguez, 41, of Breinigsville, and Rene Jimenez, 38, of Phoenix, Arizona, were transported to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Monroe Campus, Stroudsburg. They said Rodriguez had to be extricated from his 2009 Isuzu and sustained suspected serious injuries. Jimenez was reported to have sustained suspected minor injuries.

Police said the crash happened when Rodriguez failed to stop for a stop sign and struck the driver’s side of the 2023 Ford F250 driven by Jimenez. The Isuzu proceeded to travel through the intersection, crossed over the right shoulder of the road and struck a tree before coming to rest.

Both vehicles sustained disabling damages, police said.

They said Rodriguez was cited for the crash.
